Fiction: Close Reading of a Poem stub Boyd AGUC0308H ENG/125 University of Phoenix-Augusta Campus Allison Sweeney October 5, 2009 The Poet The rime I exact was called, “A poison Tree”, by William Blake. William Blake is the third son born to the deep Catherine nee Wright and James Blake, on November 28, 1757, in London, England. Two of his sestet siblings died in their early childhood years. In his infancy, Blake claimed he had visions, including cover God and angels in a corner. Two years in the beginning becoming a poet, Blake was also a painter and an engraver at the age of ten. He also found himselfcreating the engravings that would illustrate his deplete poetry. Blake married the late Catherine Sophia Boucher in 1782, he also taught her how to rent and write. In 1803 after a violent confrontation with soldier John Scolfied in which Blake uttered treasonable comments against the King, he was aerated with sedition, but later acquitted. William Blake died in 1827 and was buried in an overlooked grave in the Non-Conformist Bunhill Fields in London. In this poem the character is full of angriness and fear. The principal theme of this compose form to me is not necessarily pettishness, but how the control of resentment leads to the promotion of anger itself.

In other words, hiding anger preferably than just revealing it and accepting it, as you strike in the poem, transfer anger into a seed that go out sprout. go that seed is promoted, which is encouraged by the energy of the stormy person, the pettishness continues to grow into a powerful force. The tree ! in this poem reminds me of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. “Till it tidal bore an apple bright,” apple in this case symbolizes the fruit on the tree that God told ten and even not to eat. “And into my tend take…My foe outstretched beneath the tree,” this also symbolizes when Adam and Eve did not obey God’s wishes.
